SOS ARMS – A Mission of Hope and Rescue
The SOS ARMS – Saving Orphaned Souls Sheila’s Animal Rescue Mission association was founded in 2017 by Georgiana, a devoted animal rescuer, with the mission to save, protect, and offer a better future to abandoned dogs and cats in Brașov, Romania. Operating as a non-profit organization, SOS ARMS was born from the determination to bring real change to the lives of animals in need and to provide a second chance to those who had lost all hope.
A Tribute to a Soulmate
This mission is not just about saving animals—it is also a deeply personal tribute to Sheila, Georgiana’s soulmate. Sheila was by her side since she was just three weeks old and offered her 14 years of unconditional love and loyalty. When Sheila passed away, she left behind an unfillable void but also an unstoppable determination to honor her memory by saving other lives.
From Compassion to Action
The love for animals and the desire to help them are nothing new for Georgiana. Since 2006, she has been actively involved in rescuing stray dogs and cats, providing them with food, medical care, and temporary shelter. However, in 2017, when confronted with the harsh reality of her hometown’s public shelter, she realized she had to do more.
That place, run by the local dog-catching services, was practically a death camp, where volunteer access was nearly impossible, and animals were euthanized without ever getting a chance to be saved. Faced with this tragic situation, Georgiana fought tirelessly to shut down the shelter and change the conditions for animals at risk.
The Fight for Change – A Promise Betrayed
In her relentless effort to help the suffering animals in her hometown’s public shelter, Georgiana agreed to personally cover all expenses for food, medical care, and other costs for two months, while waiting to take over the shelter’s administration. However, those two months turned into an entire year. In the end, local authorities chose to collaborate with another shelter, where euthanasia is still practiced—a heartbreaking decision that went against everything Georgiana fought for.
But there was one victory that made all the struggle worth it: she managed to rescue every single dog that had been condemned to death in that shelter. Each of those souls, resigned to suffering and death, was saved. All of them were adopted, and the most traumatized ones remained by Georgiana’s side, continuing their healing journey with her.
A Lifelong Battle Against Cruelty
Georgiana’s mission did not stop there. Over the years, she has personally shut down three other extermination camps, risking her own safety to ensure that innocent lives were spared. Her work has resulted in thousands of animals being rescued, offering them a future filled with love and security.
Beyond rescues, Georgiana has been a strong advocate for sterilization programs, fighting tirelessly to reduce the number of stray animals and break the cycle of abandonment and cruelty. With the help of amazing supporters from outside Romania, she has managed to make a real difference.

The entire work of SOS ARMS relies solely on the goodwill of people. 100% of our operations are supported through donations and the help of those who choose to be part of this fight.
Without this help, our mission would be impossible—because, no matter how much we love animals, love alone cannot pay vet bills, medical treatments, and daily care.

Although she once considered leaving Romania, Georgiana chose to stay and dedicate her life to this cause. She strongly believes that every soul deserves to be saved and that soulmates can also have four paws.
Thus, SOS ARMS became more than just a rescue organization—it became a bridge between animals and the families who need them. Over the years, the NGO has successfully:
