At P.A.T. Paws and Tales Sanctuary, our work is never finished. Every day, we fight to provide better lives for the animals we rescue, and right now, our sanctuary is undergoing crucial improvements to ensure their safety, comfort, and well-being.
Why Our Work in Progress Matters
🐾 Expanding Shelter Space – Overcrowding is a serious challenge. We are working on creating more enclosures and improving living conditions so every dog and cat has a safe, comfortable space.
🐾 Building a Special Care Unit for Disabled Dogs – Many of our rescues have special needs, including paralyzed dogs, amputees, and those recovering from trauma. We are raising funds to complete a dedicated space for their care.
🐾 Providing Better Medical Facilities – Emergency cases and sick animals need immediate care. We aim to improve our on-site facilities to provide better treatment for those who need it most.
🐾 Improving Food & Water Access – With hundreds of animals depending on us daily, ensuring a steady supply of food and clean water is a constant priority. Sponsorships and donations help us sustain this basic yet vital need.
🐾 Creating Safe and Warm Spaces – Harsh weather conditions make life difficult for stray and rescued animals. We are building insulated areas to protect them from extreme cold and heat.

We encourage volunteers to spend as long a time as possible volunteering here in Romania at the new sanctuary, where we plan to create also rooms for accommodation .The dogs in our care can benefit hugely from prolonged interaction with the same person(s). We are very grateful to every volunteer who passes through the gates here at SOS ARMS so even if you only stay for two days, that’s great. If you stay for longer, that’s amazing!
Many of our volunteers fall in love with the dogs and cats at our sanctuary and often end up adopting one of them. If you have the space in your heart to give one of our animals a loving home, then you might just meet your new best friend at SOS ARMS!
All volunteers undertake an induction process providing the opportunity to understand daily operations, gain greater insight into the work of the foundation and learn about the systems in place to ensure both volunteers and animals have a safe and enjoyable experience together.
Every effort is made to ensure that all volunteers gain a valuable, enjoyable and safe experience. We do train volunteers, provide information and offer practical support and guidance when working directly with the dogs and cats, together with hands-on support from the animal carers who work with the animals every day.
There are numerous options for various standards of accommodation in and around the new sanctuary. Our aim is to create the accommodation for the volunteers and we are working on it .
